A House subcommittee was scheduled to hold an "educational" hearing March 18 for its members and the public to examine the interaction between federal and state regulators regarding the oversight of holding companies with insurance activities and to discern ways to improve supervision of the sector. Rep. Paul E. Kanjorski (D-PA) called the hearing of the Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Insurance, and Government Sponsored Enterprises, which he heads.
Witnesses scheduled to testify before the subcommittee were Jon Greenlee, associate director of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors' division of banking supervision and regulation; Grovetta N. Gardineer, the Office of Thrift Supervision's managing director for corporate and international activities; Commissioner Sean Dilweg, of Wisconsin's Office of the Commissioner of Insurance; and Ann Frohman, director of the Nebraska Department of Insurance.
