For traders with a more short-term time horizon, we have compiled a list of the S&P 1500 stocks trading above $10 that have the largest intraday high-low ranges (based on the average percent spread between the intraday high and low over the last 50 days). We then grouped the stocks based on whether they have a rising or falling 50-day moving average.
Currently, there are 26 stocks in the S&P 1500 trading above $10 per share that have had an average intraday high low spread of 4.5% or more over the last fifty trading days. Both JDS Uniphase (JDSU) and Nvidia (NVDA) started off the year with a bang, but have since given up the bulk of those gains. Many traders were kicking themselves just a few weeks ago for missing out on these stocks. Although JDSU is still up more than 30% YTD and NVDA is up over 13%, earlier this year JDSU was up more than 100% and NVDA was up 69%. If you think the fundamental outlook for these two names is still intact, now may be your chance to get in.
